Flora and fauna

Millions of years ago, Madagascar was attached to the African continent on its western side and the Indian continent on its east (Gondwana - originally Gondwanaland). Despite separation long ago, Madagascar has kept the best of both.

FACT ON LEMURS :
Fauna, we have kept, and only we have kept the fabulous primates named lemurs. Madagascar has about 80 different species. The various species are found according to the region, park, climate and vegetation; biped lemurs, quadrupeds ones; nocturnal and diurnal ones; small and large ones; dancing and singing ones; curious and timid ones; white, black, brown, grey, red ones, etc…
We must also mention the chameleons, the fosas, and an endemic sort of cat / dog! Terrestrial tortoises, insects, reptiles of all sorts and numerous species of birds.

BAOBABS :
Flora, there is so much to tell. Madagascar has 7 of the species of baobabs found in the world. The huge continent of Africa has only 1 specie!
Majestic, proud and strong, the baobab is our emblem.
Then we have numerous flowering trees, didieraccees, pachypodium, and more plants with surprising forms.

Madagascar also offers an exceptional marine flora and fauna! The waters are warm and abundant with life. Then we witness the migration of our friends the whales every year, which come and mate in the warm waters of the Mozambique and Sainte-Marie channels. Their amorous courting is punctuated by songs and high jumps out of the water.

In summary, a stunning world. Madagascar has a 90% rate of endemism, which means that most of the flora and fauna found here only exist here and nowhere else.
